8-year-old Saudi girl divorces 50-year-old husband

CAIRO – An 8-year-old Saudi girl has divorced her middle-aged husband after her father forced her to marry him last year in exchange for about $13,000, her lawyer said Thursday. Saudi Arabia has come under increasing criticism at home and abroad for permitting child marriages. The United States, a close ally of the conservative Muslim kingdom, has called child marriage a "clear and unacceptable" violation of human rights.

The girl was allowed to divorce the 50-year-old man who she married in August after an out-of-court settlement had been reached in the case, said her lawyer, Abdulla al-Jeteli. The exact date of the divorce was not immediately known.

A court in the central Oneiza region previously rejected a request by the girl's mother for a divorce and ruled that the girl would have to wait until she reached puberty to file a petition then.

There are no laws in Saudi Arabia defining the minimum age for marriage. Though a woman's consent is legally required, some marriage officials don't seek it.

But there has been a push by Saudi human rights groups to define the age of marriage and put an end to the phenomenon.

One Saudi human rights activist Sohaila Zain al-Abdeen was optimistic that the girl's divorce would help efforts to get a law passed enforcing a minimum marriage age of 18.

"Unfortunately, some fathers trade their daughters," she told The Associated Press. "They are weak people who are sometimes in need of money and forget their roles as parents."

It was not clear if the man received money for the divorce settlement. The man had given the girl's father 50,000 riyals, or about $13,350, as a marriage gift in return for his daughter, the lawyer said.

The 8-year-old girl's marriage was not the only one in the kingdom to receive attention in recent months. Saudi newspapers have highlighted several cases in which young girls were married off to much older men or young boys including a 15-year-old girl whose father, a death-row inmate, married her off to a cell mate.

Saudi Arabia's conservative Muslim clergy have opposed the drive to end child marriages. In January, the kingdom's most senior cleric said it was permissible for 10-year-old girls to marry and those who believe they are too young are doing the girls an injustice.

But some in the government appear to support the movement to set a minimum age for marriage. The kingdom's new justice minister was quoted in mid-April as saying the government was doing a study on underage marriage that would include regulations.

There are no statistics to show how many marriages involving children are performed in Saudi Arabia every year. Activists say the girls are given away in return for hefty marriage gifts or as a result of long-standing custom in which a father promises his infant daughters and sons to cousins out of a belief that marriage will protect them from illicit relationships.

Did Islam Shape America?

In England, Obama bowed before the Saudi King, and then he went to Turkey, where he addressed the Turkish Parliament: “We will convey our deep appreciation for the Islamic faith, which has done so much over the centuries to shape the world — including in my own country.”

Help me, but I am trying to figure out how Islam shaped America?

Didn’t Europeans land in America and create a conflict with the Natives? Wasn’t it the European colonization of the Americas that forever changed the lives, bloodlines and cultures of the peoples of the continent? When the settlers came to America with wagon trains, where were the Muslims? Were they hiding? As far as I know, these people were not Muslims. - American history tells us that Christianity shaped the United States, not Islam!

The only event that connected Islamic to the USA was the attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. Remember the terrorists who came to seek to destroy us?

But then, that’s nothing new. The leaders of radical Islam have called for the complete destruction of America and Israel; they have declared war on America and Israel.

How can an American president claim that the so-called Islamic faith shaped the United States for the better? Or was he talking about Kenya or Indonesia? I understand that there are problems with Obama’s citizenship.

If Islam influenced America during the last 8 years, it was not for the better, but for the worst.

So, it wasn’t over the centuries, but only recently that Islam has begun to shape America.

Obama bows to to Saudi King Abdullah

Oh well, pictures speak louder than words.

President Obama greeted the king of Saudi Arabia with a full bow from the waist, a move one commentator described as a violation of protocol and not worthy of the office he holds.

The situation developed as leaders of the world attending the G20 summit in London assembled for a photograph to mark the event.

In this first image, after the king extended his hand while Obama approached, Obama bends from the waist until his head is nearly at the monarch's waist.

That is certainly what it looks like, and it's a mistake not just because it violates protocol but because of the symbolism it sends. No US president is supposed to bow down to a foreign head of state because it indicates submission, and the American president does not submit to anyone. But here is Obama, bowing to King Abdullah.

Leading conservative blogger Michelle Malkin and Dakota Voice both wrote of their outrage at the President's deference to a foreign monarch.

The Terrorist Wielding An Axe

Last week, a Muslim terrorists killed a 16-year-old boy in Bat Ayan in Gush Etzion with a pickax. He was murdered by an Arab terrorist Thursday morning. A seven-year-old child was also injured.

The wounded child was evacuated to the Hadassah Ein Kerem Medical Center in
Jerusalem. A hospital spokesperson reported that the seven-year-old suffered from a fractured skull. The child is currently in moderate condition.

According to eyewitness reports, the terrorist fled the scene after running wild and attacking passersby. Residents alerted the security forces to the scene.

"The terrorist came in with an axe and injured two boys from Bat Ayin," said Mayor Shaul Goldstein.

A resident who wrestled with the murderer managed to slow him down and deter him from continuing the attack, failed to stop him completely; he managed to escape into the hills that surround the community.

The mayor noted that no Palestinian workers were employed in the town: "It is clear that the terrorist came in with the intention of murdering and terrorizing. The only way he could have come in was through infiltration."

The attacker apparently entered Bat Ayan, located between Jerusalem and the southern West Bank city of Hebron, unhindered. The religious settlers have refused to build a security fence around their community - standard practice in most settlements - saying it would be a sign of weakness.

A murky Palestinian militant group calling itself the Martyrs of Imad Mughniyeh claimed responsibility for the attack in an e-mail sent to the AP. They are a part of Fatah's military arm, the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades.

Just imagine; - running after children with a pickax and murdering them by breaking their skull. - But killing and injuring children is part of the pathology of an Islamic mind. This abnormal mind is the mind of our enemy. The Muslim mind is twisted early in life.

I memorized all the Palestinian revolutionary songs. And all of them are about death. The PLO songs he recited growing up, contained words like, “Sharpen my bones into swords and make my flesh into Molotov cocktails.”

Muslim kids grow up with hatred. Later they kill, steal and destroy. They lie, and then they die for Allah, who seems to desire all this evil.

It surely must not be the same God as the G-D of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Not only does He command us not to murder: (לא תרצח – lo tirzach)”. (Deuronomy 5:17), but He also says: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself ( ואהבת לרעך כמוך - ve ahavta l’reakha kamokha.)” (Leviticus 19:18).

Europe Threatens Israel

Israel’s new government better embrace and pursue the “two-state-solution”, was the threatening message we heard from Europe and the rest of the world, - or face the displeasure of the European Union. It came Friday night, shortly after the Jewish state entered the Sabbath Day, from Karel Schwarzenberg, foreign minister of the Czech Republic, the current the EU president.

Schwarzenberg said; “Relations would become very difficult indeed, if the about-to-be-inaugurated Netanyahu government will not commit itself to establishing a Palestinian state in the heart of the ancient Jewish homeland.” - Mr. Schwarzenberg also praised the already-intensive efforts of the new Obama administration to oversee and direct the slicing and dicing of the Land He gave to them.

Luxembourg's foreign minister, Jean Asselborn, said that the much discussed and hoped-for upgrading of EU-Israeli trade and political ties would be contingent on Israel achieving a peace deal with the Palestinians.

“Let me say very clearly that the way the European Union will relate to an [Israeli] government that is not committed to a two-state solution will be very, very different," Solana said, adding unabashedly that Europe "will be ready to do business as usual, normally, with a government in Israel that will continue talking for a two-state solution."

As if Israel hasn’t tried to do everything it could. It surrendered control of some of its most sacred and strategic historic sites, and allowed the PLO to establish itself as an armed and governmental presence in these territories. Israel offered to place some of its greatest and most sacred national treasures on the negotiating table, and has repeatedly taken unprecedented “risks for peace.” It unilaterally withdrew from its land and gave the Palestinians the Gush Katif area, - land for peace!

However, that didn’t work and Jews continue to be murdered as a direct result of these unilateral peace efforts.

Why does everyone think they need to dictate Israel what to do? Is it their country? Oh, I forgot, we have now a one world government, that dictates everyone what they can and can’t do. But, why do the nations always plot against the Jews?

There is a very simple explanation to this question. The nations hate G-D. Because they hate G-D, they also hate his word, the Bible, and his people, the Jews. After all, there is nothing quite so upsetting, as to hear of a universal standard of truth or a "chosen people."

Yes, the nations hate G-D, and they hate Israel. Israel reminds the sinful world of G-D’s rule, and of His laws. People today hate these ideas.

The world, apart from Israel and the Torah, is lost and doomed. Europe has lost its biblical basis and has become a haven for howling anti-Semites. Many of Europe’s residents still curse the Jews from inside the very houses they once stole from their murdered Jewish owners.

Incredibly, - while Europe has killed most of her Jews, she continues to hate them.
Today the European Union hypocritically poses as a peacemaker for Israel, but in reality, the union despises Israel with a deep loathing.

As we see today worldwide, the hatred of Israel is growing. Today, anti-Semitism is rapidly rising throughout the world. It has been said that Israel has now become the "world’s Jew."

As the writer Ron Rosenbloom put it, "The concentration of so many Jews in one place – and I use the word ‘concentration’ advisedly – gives the world a chance to kill the Jews en masse again."

There is one thing for sure and certain. Before this evil age plays out, all the nations of the world will come together in one "final solution" to solve the Israel "problem." These nations are also on a direct collision course with the Almighty.

For G-D says: "I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Y’hoshafat [Adonai judges]. I will enter into judgment there for my people, my heritage Israel, whom they scattered among the nations; then they divided my land." (Joel 3:2)

This great battle is the last one for this age, and will in fact end the age. It is commonly believed that the Valley of Ge-Hinnom, together with the Kidron Valley, represents the "Valley of Jehosaphat", the valley of G-d's judgment upon His enemies. The battle will largely be fought in the beautiful Jezreel Valley near an ancient hill called Har Meggido (Mount Meggido). It is a strategic spot for the nations to gather and attempt to cut Israel in two.

To fight against Israel is to fight against her G-D; – and how foolish is that?! ------- Lilo
